Originally German, ALDI now has about 500 branches in the Netherlands. For a long time, all processes in the company were the same everywhere – whether it was ALDI in Germany, the Netherlands, Portugal or Poland. In recent years, however, there has been more and more room to implement things on a national level. Thus ALDI in the Netherlands chose AFAS’ HRM & Payroll software, with Salure helping with the conversion.

Sander van Schie, Director National HR Projects at ALDI in the Netherlands, says: “Internationalizing and professionalizing, we call it. That is an efficiency drive. It enables us to respond better to local collective bargaining agreements, for example. But then of course you need a software system that can do that easily.’ So ALDI went looking for a software partner with knowledge of Dutch legislation, which is reliable and scalable, and easy to link to other packages. Based on these criteria, ALDI made the choice for AFAS.

Smart forward with Salure

During the migration and conversion to AFAS, ALDI enlisted the help of Salure. Salure supported ALDI with:

  • Performing a conversion scan;
  • The conversion to AFAS;
  • Support during the going live of the AFAS Pocket App.

Before switching to AFAS, Salure did a conversion scan for Aldi. This involved checking whether the data was complete and making the translation tables between the systems. Because it became clear that the conversion would be a big job, ALDI performed the conversion in close cooperation with a consultant from Salure.

Aldi over Salure:

“All the data we wanted to use in AFAS’ software had to be extracted from the old packages first. To gain insight into this, AFAS partner Salure performed a conversion scan for us. Together with Salure, we found ways to manage all of this, but a lot of manual work was involved. And thinking, because some adjustments take a long time to work through. An example: because every company had its own payroll administration, we also had ten people with employee number 1. That is not possible if you want to work from one database. And you can change personnel numbers, but then you have to make sure that, for example, the time registration system also knows that. Together with AFAS and Salure we eventually managed to tackle all those problems.”

Result

In retrospect, the implementation actually went quite smoothly. Van Schie: ‘We actually wanted to go live with just the payroll at first. Later we upped those ambitions because there was room for it.’

Hoogenbosch adds, “By now we hear almost exclusively positive feedback. In addition, the number of actions has been drastically reduced. We no longer have to stamp papers and send them around, which makes a huge difference. Also in the chance of mistakes.
