Rijk Zwaan, an international company in the seed breeding sector with more than 3,900 employees in more than 30 countries, is strongly committed to digitizing their HR processes. “Our starting point is that everyone in the organization should be able to get along with the system,” says Olav van der Schalk, Project Advisor HR. “This means that we choose an intuitive page layout with as few mouse clicks as possible.”
Examples include the digital drafting and signing of employment contracts, the digital payslip and the use of the AFAS Pocket App. This saves a lot of time and paper, which is crucial for a company that expects to attract a thousand new employees worldwide in the coming years.
In addition, Rijk Zwaan implemented an English-language version of AFAS InSite. “We kept InSite Dutch-language, but added an English-language version with limited functionality,” says Olav. This English-language version supports annual salary discussions with subsidiaries through an international reward system. “In practice, it works very well. One screen shows all the information needed to determine a good salary,” Olav says. Thanks to the workflow in InSite, salary proposals can be discussed and determined efficiently.
At Rijk Zwaan, according to Karin Wijnands, Group Manager HR, it is customary to establish long-term cooperative relationships with external partners. “For us, shared values such as honesty, clarity, respect, reliability and expertise are hugely important.”
